Patrick Sullivan’s recent success at the BC Securities Commission
In 2015, Patrick Sullivan of Taylor Veinotte Sullivan represented Michael Yong on allegations that he had committed fraud and breached the illegal distribution provisions contained in the Securities Act. Mr. Yong admitted the illegal distribution allegations but contested the fraud allegations.
Following a one week Hearing, the Hearing Panel held that the Executive Director had not provided clear, convincing and cogent evidence on the allegation of fraud and that the other alleged conduct did not relate to securities and therefore the Commission did not have jurisdiction. In the result, the allegation that Mr. Yong had committed fraud was dismissed against him.
